* Budva, a beautiful coastal town in Montenegro, is a fantastic holiday destination for travellers who like to enjoy pristine beaches, beautiful coast lines and historical sites during the day and a vibrant nightlife with bars and clubs during the night. Budva is often referred to “Montenegrin Miami” because it is such a popular tourist destination with exclusive resorts like Milocer and Sveti Stefan, which are frequented by various famous celebrities. With a pleasant Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters Budva is great to visit throughout the year and has many things to do and to see.
The Old Town, Stari Grad, has developed around a small peninsula and is home to many historical monuments and sites and fascinating architecture. It is surrounded by medieval city gates, defence walls and towers and consists of narrow streets, alleys and old limestone houses. It is a great place to stroll around and to soak in the ancient history. Make sure to visit the three main churches in the Old Town: the Church of Holy Trinity built in 1804, the Saint Sava built in the 14th century and the St. Mary’s of Punta dating from 840. To learn more about the ancient history you can visit the Town Museum, which provides insightful information about Greek and Roman history, and the Archaeology Museum, which houses Budva various historical items.
Numerous gorgeous beaches are in the greater area, which mostly consist of small rocks and offer fantastic views and great swimming access. Budva’s most beautiful and popular beach is Mogren with crystal clear water and a nice atmosphere. It is surrounded by large cliffs. Other beaches, such as Pizana, Ricardova glava and Slovenska plaza are close by too and offer wonderful swimming and sunbathing. A day trip to the uninhabited Sveti Nikola Island is recommended. You can relax at the beach and walk around.
Budva is full of live performances, music events and other entertainment programs, which happen during day and night time especially on the main promenade. There is a wide choice of vibrant bars and restaurants in Old Town, which offer unique dinner experiences. Very popular are the seafood restaurants with super fresh dishes.
